TOLEDO, OHIO --- Finishing off their first season of competition, the Concordia University Chicago STUNT team took to the floor twice on Sunday afternoon at the STUNT National Championships. In the first game of the day against Hiram the Cougars scored three points on the final routine of the fourth quarter to win 14-13. Then in the national championship, CUC was unable to continue the momentum, falling to Alma 20-1.
The Cougars were up to the challenge in the opening match of the day against the fourth-year program in Hiram. CUC rebounded to defeat the Terriers after falling to them in the opening round on Saturday afternoon. It was a closely contested contest throughout, but the Cougars were able to outscore Hiram 3-2 on the final routine of the contest to pull off the 14-13 victory.
In the second game of the day against the defending national champs, Alma, the Cougars gave it their all. CUC worked through all their routines against the highly experienced Scotts, but ultimately fell 20-1.
The Cougars close out their inaugural season as the national runners-up with a record of 6-8. With a young core of athletes, there is a big future ahead for CUC STUNT.
