Fond du Lac — The Concordia University Chicago women's lacrosse team moved to 2-0 in conference play Saturday following an impressive road win over Marian University. Graduate student Elizabeth Cyrwus (Chicago, Ill.) broke multiple school records in the game as the Cougars cruised to a 15-4 victory.
Cyrwus scored 10 goals on the day and recorded a total of 12 points, both of which are school records for individual games. She placed 15 of her 16 shots on goal and the results followed.
It took less than seven minutes for the Chicago native to record her fourth hat trick of the season. She had four goals in the first quarter alone, and added another in the second to go to the locker room with five.
With three more goals in the third, the graduate student broke her personal record for goals in the game. She wasn't quite finished yet though, tying teammate Rylee Orenstein's record with a ninth goal before making school history with her tenth at the 13:11 mark of the fourth.
Her two assists came to junior Grace Miller (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) and graduate student Kelli Pietrowski (Wheeling, Ill.).
Orenstein was the only other Cougar to net more than one goal in the win, her sixth multi-goal effort of the season. Junior Nina Naes (St. Louis, Mo.) also scored.
The Cougars led wire to wire in the win, and held the Sabres scoreless for the final 22:45 of the game.
They'll look to move to 3-0 in conference play this Tuesday when they travel to Beloit College. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m., and coverage will be available on cucougars.com/coverage.
