ALMA, MICH. --- Competing for the first time in the program's history, the Concordia University Chicago STUNT team took to the mats for two games on Sunday afternoon. The Cougars opened the day falling to the host Alma 21-1. The Cougars then rebounded with a 13-5 win over Olivet in the second game of the day.
The Cougars put their best foot forward in the opening game of the program's history. CUC faced a tall test as well, taking on Alma, the defending national champions at the division three level.
CUC picked up the first point in their history in the fourth quarter. Quarter four is team the team routine quarter. Alma had possession and called routine one. CUC got the point during the routine, putting one of their best of the game.
In the second game of the day Concordia made more history defeating Olivet 13-5. CUC had opening possession and chose routine one to open. Quarter one is partner stunts. Olivet took the opening point and then called routine two. CUC countered with a solid routine earning the point to tie the game. The Cougars added another point in the quarter, but Olivet was able to snap one more point to make it a 2-2 game going into halftime.
The Cougars opened by performing routine one of the third quarter which is jumps and tumbling. CUC earned the point and would add on one more to take a 6-2 lead into the fourth. Concordia and Olivet tied two of the three points on the opening routine of the fourth, but CUC earned the third point to keep momentum. The Cougars never looked back from there, defeating Olivet 13-5 for the programs first ever win.
