RIVER FOREST, Ill. --- Kicking off the homecoming games on Saturday morning, the Concordia University Chicago women's soccer team took on the Marian University Sabres on Saturday inside Concordia Stadium. The Cougars and the Sabres ended the day with a draw.
The Cougars struck first in the 35
th minute. After a Marian penalty,
Medelin Loza struck a penalty kick inside the left post and past the Sabres keeper to give CUC a 1-0 lead. The goal was Loza's third on the season.
With Marian keeping possession the majority of the first half, the Cougars managed to hold onto their lead after the first 45 minutes of play. As a penalty against the Cougar put the Sabres one-on-one with
Kassie Silenzi, the Sabres managed to even the score on the penalty kick. Unable to find the back of the net again, the Cougars closed the day with a 1-1 draw.
The Cougars continue Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play on Wednesday afternoon when Alverno comes to River Forest. Opening kickoff is set for 1:00pm. Links to coverage can be found at cucougars.com/coverage.
