Box Score Mequon, Wis.. -- On what should have been CIT weekend, the Concordia University Chicago women's basketball team (6-10, 5-6 NACC) fell to Concordia University Wisconsin (9-6, 8-3 NACC) 64-44.
Inside the Box
-
Jaylene Wade (Lansing, Ill.) led the team with 14 points and three rebounds.
-
Sarah Ludwig (Roselle, Ill.) and Alisyn MacGregor (Loves Park, Ill.) led the team with nine points and 9 rebounds respectively.Â
With the Falcons scoring first, junior Bailey Steinkamp (Cary, Ill.) took control and put the Cougars on the board with a pair of free throws followed by a layup to bring the score within one. A series of intense defense resulting in consecutive stops for the Cougars gave enough opportunities for them to bring the score within six heading into halftime.Â
As the second half got underway, the Falcons jumped out to an early 13 point lead. With multiple Cougars stepping up on the offensive end, Wade, Ludwig, Kate Johnson (Lincoln, Neb.), and Mackenzie Straulin (Johnsburg, Ill.) were the only four able to put up points in the third quarter.Â
Despite a promising third quarter, the Cougars were unable to carry that energy into the fourth, ultimately falling 64-44. The Cougars fell behind on rebounding, resulting in a 32-43 rebound margin in favor of the Falcons.Â
For their fourth straight road match, they'll head over to Lisle on Tuesday for a conference matchup against Benedictine at 7pm. Coverage for women's basketball and all Concordia-Chicago teams can be found at cucougars.com/coverage.
