Three Cougars Earn Women's Basketball CSC Academic All-District Honors

RIVER FOREST, ILL. -- Three members of the Concordia University Chicago (CUC) women's basketball team have earned a spot on the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. Grace King (Fairland, Ind.), Linley Southern (Decatur, Ill.), and Abbi Dykstra (Yale, Mich.) all excelled on the court and in the classroom and in this season. To make the CSC Academic All-District Team student-athletes must have a 3.5 GPA or above in order to be nominated. 

King picked up her first Academic All-District nod after earning NACC All-Conference accolades in his final season.King started and appeared in 24 games this season for the Cougars, bringing strength and leadership to the floor. She led the Cougars in many areas with 148 total rebounds, averaging 6.2 boards per game. She also led the Cougars in free throw percentage, going 45-54 from the line for a 83.3% on the season. Additionally, King led in field goal percentage, shooting 48.6% all year. King found herself in many different statistical categories throughout the conference including 11th in rebounds per game, sixth in offensive rebounds per game, and 18th in points per game. In her sophomore season, King had many strong games, picking up career-high 21 points against Albion College (Nov. 15th) and Marian University (Feb.14th), career-high 15 rebounds against Rockford University (Jan. 7th), and career-high five steals against Edgewood University (Feb. 11th). King picked up three double-doubles this season against Marian, Rockford, and Dominican University. King earned NACC Player of the Week in the week of February 17th after combining for 39 points in to crucial games for the Cougars.

Southern also picked up her first Academic All-District nod after appearing in 24 games this season with one start. Southern averaged 1.5 points per game collecting 36 total points on the season. She contributed 48 total rebounds, 18 assists, 15 steals, adn two blocks on the year as well. Southern had a career-high nine points against Judson University (Dec. 17th), career-tying eight rebounds and three steals against Edgewood University (Dec. 3rd).

Dykstra also picked up her first Academic All-District nod after appearing in all 25 games this season with 17 starts. Dykstra averaged 5.1 points per game with 127 total points on the season. She added in 32 total three-pointers on the team, the second highest this season. She contributed 63 rebounds, 20 assists, and 20 steals on the year. Dykstra picked up career-high 22 points against St. Mary's University (Nov. 14th), career-high three-pointers made with six against St. Mary's University (Nov. 14th), and career-high six rebounds against Lake Forest College (Nov. 25th). 

The Cougars finished the season 10-15 overall and 9-9 in NACC play.
