The Concordia University Chicago men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Warrior Invite on Saturday, April 17, at Wisconsin Lutheran College. Following a day of competition, the women's team finished in sixth of 14 teams while the men earned eighth place out of 14 teams.

Senior
Kayla Armstrong (Chicago, Ill.) finished the day with a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.26 seconds. She also grabbed a first-place win in the 200 with a time of 24.82. In these races, she defeated multiple Division I sprinters. Also grabbing a big win at this meet was senior
Simone Wilson (Minneapolis, Minn.). She earned a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.74 seconds to secure the third-best time in the nation at the moment. Along with Armstrong, Wilson also defeated many Division I athletes in the process. Wilson also finished shortly behind Armstrong in the 200 with a third-place finish and a time of 25.72 seconds.

In the mid-distance races, junior
Angelina Nichols (Chicago, Ill.) came out big for the Cougars. She hit a new PR with a time of 2:23.76. Along with that, she grabbed a fourth-place finish out of 26 runners in the event.

On the men's side, sophomore
Shane Allen (Northlake, Ill.) had a big finish in the discus. He threw it for 39.31 meters, which was good enough for fifth out of 16 throwers. He also threw 12.35 meters in the shot put to secure fourth out of 12. Also having a good performance for the Cougars was freshman
Mauricio Xochitecatl (Carol Stream, Ill.), who earned a 12th-place finish out of 23 people in the 800-meter run.

The Cougars will have the week off before they are back on the track at the Drake Relays this week starting on April 21.
