In an exciting 4-1 victory, the Concordia University Chicago women's soccer team (3-6) took down Ripon College (0-1) on Sunday, April 11th.
A strong start for the Cougars as they put themselves on the scoreboard first, with senior Samantha Goodlett (Hamilton, Ohio) scoring in the seventh minute off a cross from Cecilia Kochanek (Streamwood, Ill). Ripon responded shortly after to tie the game up, but CUC wasn't ready to stop scoring. Late in the first half freshman Allie Brown (St. Louis, Mo.) found her first goal of the season off an assist from Goodlett, giving the Cougars the lead 2-1 headed into halftime.
Taking more shots this game than any other game this season, Concordia continued to find the back of the net. Senior Janette Moreno (Cicero, Ill) netted her first goal of the season while Kochanek grabbed her fourth goal of the season. Goodlett made her presence known once again since stepping on the field for the first time for her senior day back on March 21st, helping to move the ball up the field. In addition to her goal, she grabbed 3 assists on the day, her career high for assists.
CUC now enters NACC tournament play as they look to play in the first round of the semi-finals on Wednesday, April 21st.Â
