The Concordia University Chicago women's lacrosse team (6-0) put on another dominant display on Sunday, March 21, as they extended their win-streak to 14 games with a 19-7 victory over Wartburg College (0-4).
Â
The Cougars came out firing from the start with three goals in the first 85 seconds, including two within eight seconds by sisters Emily and
Elizabeth Cyrwus (Chicago, Ill.). From there, Concordia continued to push forward, not allowing the Knights to gain momentum. Once the second half started, CUC never led by less than 10 points in any of the 30 minutes.
Â
Elizabeth led the Cougars with six goals, while Emily had three of her own to bring her season total to 19. Sophomore
Rylee Orenstein (Walnut Creek, Calif.) added five, giving her 22 on the season to lead the team. Freshman
Jessica Parker (Lake in the Hills, Ill.), and sophomores
Nina Naes (St. Louis, Mo.),
Bailey Steinkamp (Cary, Ill.),
Madison Perkins (Louisville, Ky.) and
Brynn Beetow (Buffalo, N.Y.) scored the remaining goals for the Cougars.Â
Â
Sophomore goalie
Ryan McGee (Chicago, Ill.) made five saves, continuing her strong season between the posts for CUC. Her performances throughout the season make her one of the top goalies in the NCAA as she sits in the top five for having one of the best goals against averages in Division III.Â
Â
The Cougars will have nine days off from competition before they hit the road on Wednesday, March 31, to take on Eagles of Benedictine. More information about the game will come closer to the start of the game.
