Concordia University Chicago women's soccer (0-2) battled their way through a tiring matchup against the Aurora University Spartans that resulted in a 1-0 loss for the Cougars.
The lone goal of the game came in the 14th minute after Aurora found themselves a penalty kick following a foul committed inside the box from goalkeeper Kassi Silenzi (Carpentersville, Ill.). The Cougars were outshot in the first half 4-3, forcing them to step up defensively to hold the score going into halftime.
In the second half of the game the numbers started to flip as the Cougars began outshooting the Spartans, forcing them to make multiple saves on three shots. Both teams struggled to convert on offense, tossing the ball back and forth for a bit, before the Cougars were able to gain momentum. As they started progressing down the field they were able to find themselves a few corner kicks, but were ultimately unable to find the back of the net.
