Relentless Cougar effort falls short against Regents

The Cougars lost to the Regents 35-13

Rockford, Ill. - The Concordia University Chicago football team (2-4) took on the Rockford University Regents (2-4) in a conference matchup on Saturday, October 9th. With a bright and sunny day to accompany them, the Cougars ultimately weren't able to run away with the win.

After falling behind in the first quarter, the Cougars scored their only touchdown of the day with a 10 yard run from senior DeAndre Daniels (Chula Vista, Calif.) who went on to have 87 yards rushing and 14 receiving. Despite the continued drives, the Cougars ultimately couldn't get into the endzone again.

Though their efforts to find the inside of the endzone were relentless, the Cougars relied heavily on freshman kicker Ryan Auer (Newark, Ohio) to go two-for-three on field goals for the game. Auer grabbed a career high longest field goal for his 45 yard field goal made in the third quarter.

Highlights:

  • Freshman quarterback Troy Pratley (St. Joseph, Mich.) found a career high in both rushing yards and passing yards with 75 and 87 yards respectively.
  • Freshman linebacker Travon Thomas (Wauchula, Fla.) picked up his career high in tackles after leading the Cougars for the day with eight.
  • The Cougars forced two fumbles on the day with junior Julian Ramirez (Zion, Ill.) and freshman Lenny Woods (Dover, Fla). responsible.

This Cougar team is back in action this Saturday for this year's homecoming game against Lakeland scheduled for kick-off at 2:15pm. You can watch the game live at cucougars.com/coverage or keep up with the team on social media @CUCFBFamily on both Twitter and Instagram.
