River Forest, Ill. - The Concordia University Chicago women's soccer team (2-7-2, 2-3-2) took on Rockford University (2-8-0, 1-6-0) on Wednesday, October 6th where they went on to defeat the Regents 2-1.
From the start the Cougars made their presence known on the field with 12 shots in the first half alone, though none were able to find the back of the net. Though the Regents took the lead in the first half, the Cougars continued to press offensively. Sophomore Medelin Loza (Cicero, Ill.) evened the score early in the second half off an assist from sophomore Allie Brown (St. Louis, Mo.) who went on to grab a goal of her own in the 63rd minute.Â
Defensively, the Cougars held the Regents to eight shots on the day while only allowing one corner kick. Adding in a save from junior keeper Kassie Silenzi (Carpentersville, Ill.) helped contribute to their ultimate victory.
