Women's Soccer Falls at CUW

Mequon, Wis. -- The Concordia University Chicago women's soccer team headed to Wisconsin to face Concordia University Wisconsin in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matchup Saturday. It was the final road trip of the season for the team, as they fell to the Falcons 4-0.

Three minutes into the game, sophomore Medelin Loza (Cicero, Ill.) attempted to get the Cougars on the board early with a shot on goal, but was denied. The first goal for CUW took place 33 minutes into the match, but not before junior goalkeeper Kassie Silenzi (Carpentersville, Ill.) recorded three saves. The Cougars tried to retaliate with a goal of their own by sophomore Itzel Calderon (Oak Lawn, Ill.) taking a shot on goal just two minutes later, but it was again stopped. CUW closed out the first half with another goal, increasing their lead 2-0.

Silenzi had nine saves during the second half, making her total saves for the day 13. In the last 45 minutes, shots were taken by sophomore Allie Brown (St. Louis, Mo.), Loza, and sophomore Julianna Paulsen (Villa Park, Ill.). Before the match closed, Concordia University Wisconsin scored two more times on their way to a 4-0 victory.

The team will be back in action at home Wednesday, Oct. 27 as they face Division Street rival Dominican University for their final matchup of the regular season. Kick-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. and a stream will be available on cucougars.com/coverage.
