Carman Throws Gem but Cougars Come Up Short

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Looking to rebound after a tough loss to #15 Rowan yesterday, the Concordia University Chicago Baseball team took on the University of Dubuque this morning from Lake Myrtle. Despite allowing just one run, the Cougars would come up short by a final score of 1-0.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Cole Carman had a near perfect outing for CUC. The junior threw eight innings, allowing four hits and one unearned run while striking out seven on 91 pitches.
  • CUC had baserunners on in every inning but the eighth but were unable to score.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • CUC had their first chance to score in the third. Mateo Calle doubled to right with one out and was stranded at third.
  • Dubuque scored first in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs an error allowed what proved to be the game winning run to score.
  • The Cougars again threatened to score in the fifth. Matthew Uba led off with a double to center. A sacrifice moved him to third but a strikeout and a flyout kept CUC off the board.
  • CUC again put two in scoring position in the fifth and ninth but came up short.

UP NEXT
  • The Cougars will play the final game of the 2020 season tomorrow morning. They will take the University of Mount Union beginning at 10:00am (EDT) from Lake Myrtle Field four.
