AUBURNDALE, Fla. – After finding out less than 24 hours before that the 2020 season would be finishing today, the Concordia University Chicago Baseball team took to the field one final time today against Clarkson University. The Cougars were able to honor their six seniors in their final game of their careers today.
Noah Dressler,
Mateo Calle,
Alex Crinigan,
Adam Gregory,
Matt Fauth and
Kyle Strepek all played in the game today, and the Cougars were able to come from behind to win by a final score of 7-6.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Clarkson struck first with a leadoff homer in the bottom of the second to take a 1-0 lead.
- The Golden Knights made it 2-0 with a run on two hit in the second.
- Calle got his senior moment as he was lifted after the first pitch of the third.
- CUC got a run back in the top of the fourth. In what proved to be the final at-bat of his career, Fauth hit a 0-1 fastball over the left field fence to make it 2-1 Clarkson.
- Fauth got his senior moment and was lifted after the first pitch of the bottom of the fourth.
- Seniors Gregory and Crinigan threw their final pitches of their career in the fifth and were replaced by Strepek. Each pitcher was lifted from the game by his fellow seniors, instead of the traditional coaches move.
- Clarkson made it 3-1 with a run on two hits in the fifth.
- CUC took their first lead in the sixth. Strepek led off with the first hit of his career, Dressler struck out, but the ball got away from the Clarkson catcher to put runners at the corners. Adam Lackey and Caleb Anderson followed with singles to tie the game. CUC then made it 4-3 when Jaime Sandoval laid down a perfect safety squeeze.
- Strepek got his senior moment getting lifted in the sixth by his fellow seniors and was replaced by Dressler.
- Clarkson took the lead back with two runs on two hits in the sixth.
- Dressler had his final senior moment when he was relieved in the bottom of the seventh, again by his fellow seniors
- The Cougars made their comeback in the eighth. Three straight hits to open the inning tied the game at five. One out later a Cooper Hynes double to left gave CUC a 6-5 lead.
- A Clarkson error allowed the Cougars to make it 7-5 in the ninth.
- Mike Tobin closed things out by getting the final three outs of the game to pick up his first save of the year.
