RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Looking to build on a two game winning streak, the Cougars head on the road for the first time since January 22. CUC will head to Milwaukee to take on the Warriors of Wisconsin Lutheran College on Saturday afternoon.
Last Time Out: CUC is looking to end a five game losing streak against the Warriors. The Cougars led 21-19 at the half inside Geiseman back on December 3.
Jaylene Wade led the Cougar offense that night, with a season high 15 points on 6-10 shooting. Amanda Brug and Kelly Tramburg finished with double-doubles in the game for Wisconsin Lutheran.
About the Cougars: The Cougars enter Saturday 7-13 overall and 6-9 in the NACC. CUC is still alive in the conference playoff race. Currently the Cougars sit just outside of playoff position with five games to go in the regular season. Hastings currently leads the Cougars offensively with a 14.2 points per game average. Additionally she is shooting 44.8 percent from the floor this season. Over the two game winning streak CUC has gotten some big performances. Senior
Annika Rae had a career high 17 points in the win over Marian. Then on Saturday in the win over MSOE,
Charisma Robinson had 12 points and six rebounds.
Michaela Thornton also had 12 points on 5-8 shooting to go along with four rebounds and two steals. CUC continues to lead the conference in steals, three-point field goals made and turnovers forced. Nationally CUC ranks 33
rd in steals and 27
th in turnovers forced.
About the Warriors: The Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors come into the weekend 14-5 overall and 12-3 in the NACC. With a win over CUC on Saturday the Warriors would clinch a spot in the NACC Tournament. Sophomore Jenna Mace leads the team offensively with a 13.4 points per game average. Brug is the top player inside. She is shooting 51.5 percent on the season and is averaging 12.6 points per game. Additionally, Brug is bringing down 6.1 rebounds per game. Not to be forgotten, Woodward ranks third in the NACC in all three point shooting categories. She is knocking down 2.47 threes per game.
Up Next: The Cougars have just four games left in the 2019-20 season. Three of the last four will be at home. CUC will be back in action beginning on Tuesday night when they host Rockford. Opening tip is set for 7:00pm.
