Cougars Leap Past Maranatha and Augustana to Extend Winning Streak to Four

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – After earning a dramatic five set win on Thursday night, the Cougars continued to dominate on their home floor this season by defeating Maranatha Baptist in three sets before extending their winning streak to four win an intense four set win over Augustana.
 
MATCH ONE vs. Maranatha Baptist
 
Inside the Box Score
·      Trent Weber led the Cougars with 39 assists.
·      Concordia had a .290 hitting percentage.
·      The Cougars had six blocks throughout the three sets.

Quick Recap
·      Concordia started the first set on a 6-1 run with kills from Vozenilek, Ryan Fellbinger, and Skylar Versendaal.
·      With his seventh kill of the set, Vozenilek made the score 18-8, followed by soon after with akill from Matthew Lams.
·      The Cougars closed out the first set with a commanding score of 25-15, leading the match 1-0.
·      In set two, the Sabercats kept the game close, but the Cougars had the lead with an ace from Brian Perez to make the score 6-3.
·      Concordia went on a 6-2 run to make it 22-16. A kill from Lams brought the game to set point, and Perez ended the game with a kill.

·      The Cougars took set four 25-15, 3-1.

The Cougars will look to build on their winning streak when they resume NACC play on Tuesday night when the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks come to Geiseman Gymnaisum. Opening serve is set for 7:00pm.
