Sauget, Ill. - Concordia University Chicago (0-1) traveled five hours southbound for the opening weekend of the 2020 season. CUC would open up against UW-Oshkosh (1-1). The Cougars came out rolling early but would lose the lead mid-way through, and be forced to play from behind. Concordia-Chicago would not be able to comeback despite some last inning sparks, and would fall 8-5.
Turning Point: After an early explosion, CUC would surrender two runs in the third and three runs in the fourth. From there, UW-Oshkosh built the lead to 8-4 and never looked back.
Inside the Box Score:
- Brody Mariotti (2-4) led the way with two hits and three RBIs
- CUC would record four doubles on the day.
- Despite scoring three runs in the first, Concordia-Chicago would not score again until the eighth inning.
- Both teams only put together three scoring innings.

- The score would stay steady until the top of the 7th, when UW-Oshkosh sprinkled in three more runs.
- Noah Dressler then succeeded Crinigan and went on to not allow any runs for the rest of the way.
- The Cougars cut the lead to 8-4 off of a Howie Hatton RBI double going into the 9th inning.
- Chasing four runs with three outs remaining, Gerry Maynard singled and shrunk the deficit to 8-5.
- CUC's run would stop there they would and fall 8-5.
