Titan Open Serves Up Challenging Field for CUC Men's Track & Field

Feb. 1, 2020 - The Concordia-Chicago track and field teams traveled downstate today to compete in the Titan Open, hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University. While the number of competing teams was in between what the Cougars have seen in recent weeks, they included some regional and even national powers in recent years. No team scores were kept, but the Cougars competed well against the tough field.

In the 800-meter run, Ernest Bogart edged Thomas McNamara for 12th and 13th places respectively in a field of 39 runners. Bogart recorded a career best of 2:05.93 while McNamara came in at 2:06.06. McNamara finished seventh out of 46 in the mile with a time of 4:29.13.

The 60-meter hurdles saw Tyrique Thomas qualify in the prelims with a time of 8.68. Thomas later recorded an 8.73 in the finals and finish in fifth place.

The 4 x 400-meter relay team of Max Woywod, Brandon Ellis, Adam Gray and Thomas return to action for the first time since December. They came in eight place with a time of 3:34.48.

In the throws, Shane Allen placed 12th in the shot put with a 38' 4 3/4" effort. The results of the weight throw saw Allen in ninth with a 39' 3" and Jacob Mills 11th with a 38' 10 1/2".

Next Saturday, Feb. 8, the Cougars will compete at the Windy City Rumble at the University of Chicago.
