Preview: Cougars Look To Extinguish Inferno

Opening Up: The Cougars look to extend their winning streak to three games when they head to Milwaukee for a matchup with the Alveno Inferno. CUC is coming off of a road win over IIT. With a win over Alverno it would be the first time CUC would have won back-to-back road contests since the 2017-18 season. After Wednesday night CUC will enjoy a season long five game homestand that begins on Friday night against Concordia Wisconsin.

Making Hay: Freshman Tara Hastings has been a force to be reckoned with this season. She is averaging 15 points per game this season. She has scored in double figures in six straight games and is shooting 52.1 percent from the field during that span. Hastings ranks third in the NACC in scoring and is the top freshman. Among all NCAA III freshman she is 16th in scoring per game. Hastings also ranks in the top six in the conference in field goal percentage, three-point field goals made, three point field goal percentage, and steals.

Clear as Crystal: Senior Crystal Corr has been an impact player for the Cougars throughout her career. She became just the fourth player in program history to reach 600 career rebounds against Lakeland. Corr has had big success against Alverno in her last three games. She has averaged a double-double, scoring 32 points, pulling down 34 rebounds and shooting 55.6 percent from the floor during the three game winning streak.

Cougar Pressure: The Cougars have been a high pressure team under Coach Martin. CUC ranks 31st nationally and first in the NACC in steals per game (12.8). CUC also ranks 27th nationally and first in the conference in turnovers forced per game (23.5). Freshman Charisma Robinson leads the pressure for CUC. She ranks fourth in the NACC in steals with 38. Two times this season Robinson has recorded seven steals in a game which is the most in a single game since Courtney Lofink recorded nine against Lakeland back in 2018. CUC has forced 20 or more turnovers in 11 games this season.

Up Next: The Cougars will return home to kick off the 69th annual Concordia Invitational Tournament on Friday night. They will host rival Concordia Wisconsin for a 6:00pm tip from Geiseman. Tickets are still available at cucougars.com/cit.
