Cougars Return To Geiseman Thursday


RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Looking to end a four game losing streak, the Concordia University Chicago Women's Basketball team comes to Geiseman Gymnasium for just the third time this season. The Cougars will welcome the Muskies of Lakeland University for their only matchup of the season.
 
Game Coverage: Ryan Fahey will provide the play-by-play with Carter Gledhill giving the analysis on the Cougar Sports Network. Pregame will begin at 6:50pm from Geiseman.
 
Series History: The Cougars are 8-11 against the Muskies since 2006. Lakeland has won the last three in the series, including once last season. CUC owns a 5-4 record inside Geiseman Gymnasium against Lakeland. Concordia last beat Lakeland on January 6, 2018 in River Forest by a 87-78 final score. CUC has won the last three matchups in Geiseman and five of the last six.
 
About the Cougars: The Cougars come into the matchup with the Muskies 2-10 overall and 1-7 in the NACC. CUC has lost their last four including a 81-47 game to CUW on Tuesday night. Freshman Tara Hastings continues to be the top offensive player for the Cougars. She is fourth in the NACC with a 15 points per game average which is the highest of any freshman. Hastings has finished in double figure scoring eight times this season and 20+ points three times, including a season high 26 against Marian. Charisma Robinson has come on as of late for CUC as well. She ranks fourth in the NACC in steals. As a team CUC ranks first in the NACC and 32nd nationally in turnovers forced. Senior Crystal Corr needs just two more rebounds to be the fourth student-athlete in program history to reach 600 for a career.
 
About the Muskies: The Lakeland University Muskies come into Thursday night 6-7 overall and 6-2 in the NACC. They are 4-4 on the road this season and have won their last three overall. Most revently they downed Alverno 71-50 on Saturday afternoon. Lakeland ranks first in the NACC and 13th nationally in fewest turnovers (173). They also force a lot of turnovers as well, leading the NACC in steals and turnover margin. Kacey Gardner ranks second in the NACC in steals and third in assist to turnover ratio. Megan Will leads the team offensively with a 13.4 points per game average. She also brings down 7.7 rebounds per game.
 
Up Next: The Cougars will close out the busy three game week on the south side of Chicago Saturday afternoon. CUC will take on Illinois Tech, with opening tip set for 4:15pm.
