Cougars to Renew Rivalry With Dominican Saturday

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – After a hard fought game against the Aurora Spartans on Wednesday night, the Concordia University Chicago Women's Basketball team hits the road once again for the next two games. That stretch begins on Saturday afternoon when they head down the street to Dominican University as the Division Street Rivalry sponsored by Northwestern Mutual enters its next chapter.

Series History: The Cougars own a 16-7 record over the Stars since the 2007 season. The Cougars saw their nine game winning streak over Dominican come to an end last season when the two teams split the season series. CUC is 7-4 on the road against Dominican during the span.

About the Cougars: The Cougars head into the weekend 2-8 overall and 1-5 in the NACC. CUC looks to rebound after a tough fourth quarter loss to Aurora. This will be the seventh road test of the season for CUC already. The offense has started to click for the Cougars. Freshman Tara Hastings scored 23 on Wednesday night on 9-14 shooting. She has scored in double figures six times this season, and has scored 20+ three times. With five rebounds on Wednesday night, senior Crystal Corr needs just 24 rebounds to become the fourth player in program history to reach 600 in a career.

About the Stars: The Dominican University Stars come into Saturday's matchup 7-4 overall and 3-3 in the NACC. They are 3-2 at home this season. Most recently they defeated IIT at home 84-51 on Wednesday night. Senior Timiya Ray has been the biggest offensive threat this season. She is averaging 14.5 points per game which ranks fifth in the NACC. Additionally she is bringing down 9.5 rebounds per game which ranks second in the conference. Blocking shots is the Stars specialty. They rank seventh in the country and first in the NACC with 6.3 blocked shots per game. Ray and Nyema Burns lead the Stars swat team with 22 and 31 blocks respectively.

Up Next: The Cougars will hit the road once again on Tuesday night. CUC will head north to rival CUW to take on the Falcons for a 7:30pm tip-off inside the Buuck Field House.
