River Forest, Ill. -- In their second home game of the season, the Concordia University Chicago Men's Soccer team welcomed Lake Forest to Concordia Stadium. Looking to build off a 4-0 win earlier in the week, CUC was unable to get the offense going, falling by a 3-0 score in the second match of the 2019 season.

The Cougars controlled possession early in the first half with one shot on goal within the first ten minutes of play that forced a nice save from the Lake Forest goalie. The Foresters gained momentum after the first CUC shot, getting multiple shots on goal, with
Jose Retana making a spectacular save in the 17
th minute.
In the 27
th minute, Lake Forest was able to capitalize off a free kick opportunity to score the first goal of the match.
The second half was slow going on both sides in the early going, but the level of physicality remained. The Cougars had a close scoring opportunity from a free kick in the 58th minute, but the save was made by the Foresters goalie.
In the 64th minute, Lake Forest netted their second goal of the game despite an initial valiant save from Retana, making the score 2-0.
Lake Forest added on one final goal in the 81
st minute to down the Cougars 3-0.
CUC will face their first road test of 2019 on Wednesday night when they head to Elmhurst to take on the Blue Jays. Opening kickoff is set for 7:30pm.
