ELMHURST, Ill. – Facing their first road test of the 2019 season, the Concordia University Chicago headed a few towns over to take on the Elmhurst College Blue Jays in non-conference action tonight. Under the lights and with hot and humid conditions, the Blue Jays struck first before the half and then three more times in the second half to down the Cougars 4-0.
Elmhurst controlled possession early. CUC was able to generate a scoring look on net with a shot by
Dominick Christiansen in the 16
th minute. The Cougars came even closer in the 21
st minute when a
Michael Bogart shot hit the left post.
Elmhurst broke through in the 34
th minute with a shot by Oliver Saile that was tucked inside the right post to take a 1-0 lead.
The Blue Jays added on three more goals in the second half including two goals in 84 seconds in the 52
nd and 53
rd minute. They added the third goal in the 72
nd minute to extend the lead to 4-0.
The Cougars will be back in action on Sunday afternoon when they head to Wisconsin for the first of three times this season. They will take on Carroll University, with kickoff set for 1:00pm from Waukesha.
