Aurora, Ill.- Concordia-Chicago (5-4; 4-3 MWLC) went on the road to face off against Aurora University (4-4; 3-1 MWLC). Both teams were fighting for playoff seeding and postseason positioning. In what was a critical game for the Cougars, they would come up just short and fall 13-7 despite battling for two halves.
Inside the Box Score:
• Cougars lead 5-4 in the first half but fell short, only scoring two goals in the second half.

Emily Cyrwus led the way with four goals followed by
Anna Kellar (2), and Sandra Acevado (1).
• Concordia-Chicago lost the turnover battle 36-29.
Opening up the game Acevado zipped one past the goalie after being rewarded a free position shot for the first score of the game. The Cougars would score four more goals in the first half, two coming from Cyrwus, and the other two coming from the stick of Kellar. With 00:27 left in the first half the Spartans closed the CUC lead to 5-4 going into halftime.
Entering the second half with the lead, Concordia-Chicago surrendered four straight goals and quickly trailed 8-5. In an effort to pull the Cougars back, Cyrwus scored on a man-up situation, assisted by
Sydney Fuller, to shrink the deficit to 8-6.
That goal marked the start of another AU run. The Spartans would score five straight goals and soon lead 13-6, forcing a Concordia-Chicago timeout with 5:53 left in regulation. CUC would not muster up enough goals to take back the lead and would fall 13-7.
Concordia-Chicago will travel to face off against Cornell College on Wednesday, April 3rd, at 5:00 p.m.
