RIVER FOREST, Ill.—after a spirited performance against Wisconsin Lutheran College on Saturday, the Concordia University Chicago Women's Basketball team looks to get back into the win column when they head to Rockford University tonight. The game was originally scheduled for yesterday, but due to the forecasted ice was moved to today.
Series History: The Cougars and Regents have faced off 22 times since 2007. CUC owns a 15-7 record over Rockford during that span and has won the last nine dating back to 2014. The Cougars have struggled historically on the road at Rockford though, sporting just a 6-5 record overall away from Geiseman. CUC downed Rockford in their matchup earlier this season.
Crystal Corr had a monstrous night with 18 points and 17 rebounds as CUC put up a season high 99 points in the win.
About the Cougars: The Cougars come in looking to end a five game losing streak and to pick up their first win in February. Last time out CUC battled the NACC leading Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors tough, cutting the deficit to single digits on multiple occasions.
Sarah Ludwig had a career day, finishing with a career best 14 points on 5-6 shooting.
Jada Dixon also played strong for the Cougars, finishing with eight points and eight rebounds. Corr continues to rank in the top ten of rebounding in the NACC with her 7.5 rebounds per game average. The Cougars are coming up with 10.2 steals per game which ranks third in the NACC.
About the Regents: The Rockford Regents come in looking for their third win of the season after dropping a road contest to Benedictine 110-41 last time out. Both of Rockford's wins this season have come at home. Linzy Keller leads a trio of players that average double figure scoring for the Regents. The junior is shooting 38.5 percent from the field and 74 percent from the free throw line. Free throw shooting is a strength of the Regents. As a team they are shooting 71.5 percent which ranks third in the conference. Keller is also the leading rebounder for Rockford, bringing down 6.3 rebounds per game.
Up Next: The Cougars will ready for a rivalry matchup on Saturday afternoon when they head down the street to take on Dominican University. Opening tip is set for 2:00pm. CUC will then close the 2018-19 regular season the following week when they welcome Benedictine and Aurora into Geiseman.
