Cougar Women To Host Benedictine Tonight

RIVER FOREST, Ill.--  With just two games remaining in the 2018-19 for the Concordia University Chicago Women's Basketball team, the Cougars look to gain positive momentum to end the season. CUC will begin their two match home week tonight against Benedictine University. Concordia will also celebrate Girls and Women in sports night tonight.

Series History: The Cougars and Eagles have met 25 times since the 2006-07 season. The two sides have split the last six matchups since 2016. Benedictine took the only matchup this season on December 15th. It was an 11-10 game after the first quarter, but a big second quarter for the Eagles allowed them to pull away for the 73-49 victory.

About the Cougars: The Cougars come into tonight looking to rebound after a 62-51 loss to Dominican on Saturday afternoon. Junior Crystal Corr had a big week for CUC recording two double-doubles, bringing her career total to 11. She had a team high 22 points in the win over Rockford and 16 rebounds in the game against Dominican. Sam Bloom had a big day against the Stars on Saturday. The sophomore went 8-20 from the floor for 21 points to go along with two steals. The Cougars have done a good job sharing the ball this season as they average 11 assists per game.

About the Eagles: The Benedictine Eagles come in 19-4 overall and 15-3 in the NACC, two games back of first place Wisconsin Lutheran. Last time out they defeated Lakeland University 74-54 at home on Saturday. Allison Michalski comes in averaging 14.1 points per game this season which ranks her fifth in the NACC. As a team Benedictine ranks first in the NACC in total scoring with a 71.6 points per game average. Just as impressive, they rank second in team defense, giving up just 52.9 points per contest.

Up Next: The Cougars will celebrate their two seniors on Saturday afternoon as the season comes to a close against Aurora. CUC will honor Kayla Horlacher and Jessica Slomcheck before opening tip on Saturday.
