Eagles Offense Proves Too Strong for CUC

River Forest, Ill.- Concordia University Chicago (3-6; 0-2 NACC) took on Benedictine University (3-3-1; 3-0-0) in their second conference match of the season. CUC came into the game with a 6-12-2 record all-time versus the Eagles, losing the last three matchups. BenU scored two first half goals and one goal in the second half to secure a 3-0 win over the Cougars.

Inside the Box Score:
  • CUC was held scoreless for the 6th time this season
  • The shots on goal for each team ended in a small margin (8 BenU, 5 CUC)
  • Concordia-Chicago faced six more shots and were on the defensive end for most of the match.

Starting off the first half both teams stayed scoreless until the 26-minute mark when CUC's goalkeeper was left on an island in a one-on-one situation and the Eagles scored their first goal of the game. Benedictine would score their second and last goal of the first half with under ten minutes left until the break. Going into the intermission Concordia-Chicago was chasing two scores.

Benedictine kept their foot on the gas in the next half of play. Extending the lead, an Eagle player crossed the ball into the center of the box to his teammate, who would head the ball in and make the score 3-0 with 30 minutes left in the game. That goal would conclude the scoring and help the Eagles wrap up a 3-0 victory.

Concordia University Chicago will look to bounce back at Lakeland University on Saturday October 5th. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
