On a day when they celebrated their six seniors, the Concordia-Chicago women's soccer team faced Wisconsin Lutheran College for their final home game of the season. The seniors recognized were Gabriella Wagoner, Sierra Poor, Sydney Rainey, Meghan Vasseur, Samantha Wozniak, and Sara Browne, all who are in their fourth year at Concordia.
In the 16th minute, the Cougars capitalized off of a deflected save, netting a goal off the foot of Wagoner. The Cougars continued to apply pressure following the goal, having five shots on goal, with just under 20 minutes to go in the half.
Concordia kept the pressure on for the remainder of the first half, with nine total shots on goal and not allowing any shots on our own goal. The score at half remained 1-0 in favor of the Cougars.
Following half time, Concordia had another great scoring opportunity with a shot on goal from Wozniak that was saved by the WLC keeper. The Cougars would outshoot the Warriors 20-2 for the match, and after the final horn, the score remained 1-0 in favor of the Cougars.
The Cougars' next match is Wednesday, October 23rd at Dominican University.Â
