RIVER FOREST, Ill. – After a tough loss to Benedictine at home earlier this week, the Concordia University Chicago Women's Volleyball team hits the road for a critical weekend of NACC play. Series History: CUC has had a lot of success against the opponent on Friday night. CUC owns a 17-4 record against the Regents since the 2001 season and have won 16 straight dating back to September of 2005. Against Edgewood, CUC is 6-10 since 2001. The Cougars won the first five matches of the series, but have won just one since. That win came in 3-0 fashion last season inside Geiseman Gymnasium.
About the Cougars: The Concordia-Chicago Cougars come into the weekend 8-14 overall and 2-4 in NACC play.
Alyssa Henline leads the team with 160 kills this season. Senior
Jaylynn Johnson is just one behind the freshman with 159.
Kelly Gootee is the top setter on this CUC team. The junior has recorded 323 assists this season. She is also third with 28 aces this year. Defensively
Julia Beers and Henline lead the way with 219 and 212 digs respectively. They are also the team's top servers, combining for 74 aces this season.
About the Regents: The Regents come into Friday's match 6-14 overall and 0-6 in NACC play. They are led by sophomore Della Crain offensively with 185 kills this season. Paige Carpenter is close behind with 126. Freshman Jessica Witkowski leads the team with 287 assists this season and is third with 17 aces. Defensively Brooke Mirshak and Jennifer Quintas have both registered over 200 digs this year.
About the Eagles: The Edgewood Eagles come into the weekend 6-14 overall and 4-2 in the NACC. The Eagles will take on MSOE in Milwaukee on Friday night before taking on CUC Saturday. Junior Mackenzie Doherty leads the team offensively with 206 kills on the season and sports a .191 attack percentage. Junior Brittany Sager is the top setter for Edgewood. She has recorded 337 assists this year. She also leads the team with 40 aces this year. Sarah Uczen is the top defensive player for the Eagles, she has recorded 276 digs this season.
Up Next: The Cougars will have a week to get ready for their next match. They will close NACC road play on October 19 when they head to Milwaukee to take on Wisconsin Lutheran College.
