CUC Readies For Rival Falcons

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – After picking up a big rivalry win over Dominican on Saturday afternoon, the Concordia University Chicago Women's Basketball team begins a busy three game week on the road at Concordia University Wisconsin.

Series History: The Cougars and Falcons have met 26 times since 2007. Most recently CUW defeated CUC in River Forest 68-35 on November 11th. Last time the two sides played in Mequon, the Cougars defeated the Falcons 71-61 in the opening round of CIT.

About the Cougars:  The Cougars find themselves right in the middle of the playoff hunt after winning two of their last three NACC games. CUC Athlete of the Week Sam Bloom averaged 22 points per game last week, including a career high 29 against Aurora. She then chipped in 15 points and three steals in the win over Dominican. Michaela Thornton also played one of her strongest games of the season against Dominican, finishing with 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals on the night. Crystal Corr continues to find the basketball this season, ranking fourth in the NACC with an 8.6 rebounds per game average.

About the Falcons: The Falcons currently sit just one game back in the loss column from first place in the NACC. CUW has won three in a row, including a 61-40 win over Marian on Saturday afternoon. Tuesday will be just the fourth home game of the season for the Falcons. CUW is deadly from downtown, as they shoot just under 40 percent. The Falcons feature a balanced scoring attack led by Baylee Barker who averages 12.7 points per game. Last time these two teams met Barker had a big night. The senior finished with 20 points on 7-14 shooting. She also dished out six assists and had three steals.

Up Next:  The Cougars will return to Wisconsin on Thursday evening to continue their busy week with a matchup with Lakeland University. Opening tip is set for 7:00pm. CUC then will return to Geiseman on Saturday afternoon when they host IIT for a 2:00pm tip.
