Cougar Women Ready For Rival Stars

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – After a hard fought loss to Aurora on Wednesday night, the Concordia University Chicago Women's Basketball team returns to Geiseman Gymnasium for the first time in 2019 as they play host to Division Street rival Dominican University.
 
Series History: The Cougars and Stars have met 21 times since the 2007 season. CUC holds a 15-6 record over Dominican during that span including a current win streak of seven that dates back to 2015. CUC is 8-3 at home against Dominican over that same span.  CUC defeated the Stars twice last season, including a 79-62 win inside Geiseman. Crystal Corr led the team that night with 13 points to go along with 14 rebounds.
 
About the Cougars:  The Concordia Chicago Cougars look to rebound after a road loss to Aurora 91-76 on Wednesday night. Last time on the Geiseman floor the Cougars netted a season high 99 points in the win over Rockford. Sam Bloom continues to lead the CUC offense with a 13.0 points per game average. She set a new season high of 29 points earlier this week against Aurora. Reigning NACC Athlete of the Week CrystaliCorr continues be impressive this season. She ranks fourth in the NACC in rebounds per game (8.4) and sixth in blocks (14). She is also second on the team with an 8.2 points per game average.
 
About the Stars: The Dominican University Stars look to build off a 66-30 win over Illinois Tech on Wednesday night. Dominican is an impressive 4-0 away from home this season overall and 3-0 in NACC away games. Alexis Hoskins leads the Stars offense with an 11.4 points per game average. Timiya Ray is not far behind with a 10.8 average of her own. Ray crashes the boards hard for the Stars as well, ranking just ahead of Corr bringing down 8.8 boards per game.
 
Up Next: The Cougars will hit the road for their next two contests, beginning on Tuesday night when they head to Mequon to take on Concordia University Wisconsin. They then return north just 48 hours later to take on Lakeland University on Thursday night.
