GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The Concordia-Chicago women's soccer team (0-2) lost 2-0 to the Greenville Panthers (3-0) this afternoon.
The Panthers knocked in their first goal of the day at the 13:56 mark, when Greenville's Molly McDonnell scored her first goal of the season off a shot from the left wing.
The Cougars continued to trail for much of the first half when Greenville struck again in the 41st minute of play. The Panthers netted the ball off a shot from the top of the box and solidified their 2-0 win over CUC.
Neither team's offense could get rolling in the second half, despite Concordia-Chicago out shooting Greenville 13-8 in the final 45 minutes.
CUC had six corner kicks today, opposed Greenville's one. Today's game is the second consecutive game where the Cougars have had more corner kick opportunities than their opponent, but were unable to capitalize on any.
In total, CUC out shot the Panthers 22-15.
The Cougars will take to the pitch again on Friday, Sept. 7 at Lake Forest College. Game time is slated for a 4:30 p.m. start.
