Kuhlman's Hat Trick Sails Cougars Past Muskies

RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Concordia-Chicago (2-3; 1-1 NACC) took on Lakeland University (3-6; 0-2 NACC) in the second game of the men and women's doubleheader.

Prior to the men's game, the women took home a win over the Muskies and the men looked to repeat that success. In the first half, the Cougars out-shot Lakeland 6-2, and snuck one past the goalie for a 1-0 lead. CUC would continue to put pressure on the Muskies and score a goal halfway through the second half. Following the goal, CUC would put one more up on the board and finish with a 3-0 win.

Within the first ten minutes of action the Cougars had several of golden opportunities at goal, but after a couple of saves by the opposing goalie, they finally connected. Freshman Ryan Kuhlman put back a Gerardo Medina shot that was deflected for the early 1-0 lead. The Cougars would keep that lead through the rest of the half and go into the break up 1-0.

Starting off the second half, the Cougars were finding themselves on the offensive end frequently. At about the half way mark, CUC put another goal on the board. Jared Farnsworth crossed the ball to Kuhlman, who scored his second goal of the match, and the Cougars were in command 2-0.
In the 78th minute, Kuhlman struck again to complete the hat trick. After being taken down in the box, he was awarded a penalty kick, which he would capitalize on to extend the already daunting CUC lead to 3-0. The Cougars would hold their own and finish the game with a final of 3-0

Concordia-Chicago will be back in action on Wednesday, September 26, against Rockford University in River Forest. Game-time is set for 4:00 p.m.
