RIVER FOREST, Ill. — As their last test before NACC play kicks off, the Concordia-Chicago women's soccer team heads to Monmouth College to take on the Scots this Saturday, Sept. 15.
This Week: The Cougars play their second game of the week on Saturday, after falling 5-2 to the Kalamazoo College Hornets on Wednesday afternoon.
Last Time Out: Despite the three-goal deficit loss to the Hornets, CUC managed to break through and score their first two goals of the season. In the 54th minute of play, Sydney Fuller sent a long pass down field to Cecilia Kochanek. Kochanek handled the ball, chipped it over a defender's head and sent it sailing into the top right corner of the box. The Cougars continued to battle and earned a penalty kick, with less than nine minutes to go, that Sydney Rainey would ultimately capitalize on. Despite the come back, Concordia-Chicago would settle for the loss and move to 0-5 on the year.
Scouting the Scots: The Scots are 3-1 on the year thus far, most recently falling to Webster College 4-1 last weekend. The Cougars also struggled against Webster College in their season opener, getting shut out 3-0. Prior to Monmouth's loss to Webster, the Scots were on a three-game tear, defeating their first three opponents of the year. Monmouth allowed just one goal in its first three contests of 2018.
First Time For Everything: The Concordia-Chicago women's soccer team takes on Monmouth College for the first time in program history. The Scots will be the third team, this season, that the Cougars are facing for the first time ever.
Down the Pike: This weekend's contest with Monmouth is the Cougars' last test before opening up conference play against Benedictine next Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 2 p.m.
