RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) women's soccer team played its final game of the 2025 season this afternoon in front of its home crowd. The Cougars hosted Division Street rival, Dominican University for a Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) matchup. CUC put up a strong fight, battling to the final whistle, but ultimately fell, 2-1.

Inside the Box
- Naomi Gonales (Santa Rosa, Calif.) recorded seven saves to help keep the game tight.
- Grace Chavez (Morgan Hill, Calif.) scored the Cougars' lone goal with a rocket of a shot from the top of the box.
- Angelina Barreno (Chicago, Ill.) and Julia Urbanczyk (New Lenox, Ill.) each had a shot on frame.

First Half
- The Cougars were quickly put under pressure as the Stars got off multiple shots within the first two minutes. The Stars' persistence earned them a corner kick in which they were able to score on and take a 1-0 lead.
- This sparked a charge forward for the Cougars as Izzy Fairless (Royal Oak, Mich.) and Alexa Martinez (Downey, Calif.) took back-to-back shots.
- Gonzales made her first save of the afternoon in the 13th minute, saving a low shot.
- The Cougars recorded their first shot on frame in the 21st minute, as Barreno created an opportunity for herself.
- CUC continued to press for an equalizer and were rewarded in the 36th minute. Chavez received the ball and dribbled towards the box. She cut back on her defender and blasted one into the far side of the net to even the game at 1-1.

Second Half
- Out of the break, Dominican found momentum again but a strong presence from Gonzales in net kept the Cougars level with the Stars. CUC's defense also played a critical factor, denying the Stars clear chances on frame.
- Unfortunately, in the 63rd minute, Dominican was able to capitalize and take a 2-1 lead.
- This did not deter the Cougars, as they found their way into their offensive zone and created multiple chances from Barreno, Fairless, and Sofia Cazares (Rockford, Ill.).
- In the final seven minutes, CUC kept up the pressure and Urbanczyk had back-to-back shots but was ultimately denied by the Stars' goalkeeper. Natalie Flores (Placentia, Calif.) and Emma Schlismann (Joliet, Ill.) each took their own opportunities as well, but the Cougars couldn't find the back of the net and fell 2-1.

This concludes the 2025 women's soccer season. The Cougars finished 3-13-3 overall and 3-7-2 in NACC play.
