RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Concordia-Chicago women's soccer (0-5) returned to action against Kalamazoo College (5-2) tonight, following a tough loss last Saturday.
CUC looked to break into the scoring column in their second home match of the season. The Cougars have been stout on defense but have struggled to connect on offense.
Although CUC was finding plenty of opportunities to score, they could not sneak one past Kalamazoo's goalie early on in the first half. In the 30th minute, the Concordia-Chicago defense slipped up and fell victim to a 1-0 deficit. Going into the first half break, the Cougars found themselves down 2-0 after one more goal by Kalamazoo.
Moving into the second half, the CUC offense searched for a solution to a surging Hornet attack. Kalamazoo would not be denied and sprinkled in two more goals in the first 10 minutes.
Moments later,
Cecilia Kochanek chipped the ball right over the defender into the top right corner of the goal for the first Cougar goal of the 2018 season.Kochanek's goal cut the Cougar deficit to 4-1.
In the 82nd minute, the Concordia-Chicago offense found their second goal of the season.
Sydney Rainey capitalized off of a penalty kick, blazing a shot to the left of the goalie's reach, and shrunk the Hornet's lead to 5-2.
CUC could not find the net again and ended the game down 5-2.
Concordia-Chicago will look to rebound at Monmouth College on Saturday, September 15th. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
