ST. LOUIS -- The Concordia-Chicago women's soccer team dropped its season opener, 3-0, to the six-time SLIAC champion Webster College this evening.
The Cougars and Gorloks battled head-to-head early in the first half, but ultimately Webster broke through first, as Nicole Bacio scored at the 22:46 mark to help her team take the 1-0 lead.
By the end of the first half, CUC had four shots with two on goal. CUC's keeper Madeline Kroll faced nine shots with six saves in the first 45 minutes.
The Gorloks kept the pressure on throughout the second half, as Bacio netted her second of the night just five minutes in. Webster would notch one more goal before time expired to solidify its 3-0 season opening victory over the Cougars.
Samantha Wozniak led Concordia-Chicago's offensive efforts tonight, with three shots and two on goal. The Cougars had three corner kick opportunities, opposed to none for Webster, but were unable to capitalize.
