LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Concordia-Chicago men's soccer team fell 5-0 to the reigning Midwest Conference Champions, Lake Forest College this afternoon to open up the 2018 season.
Lake Forest's Lucas Geib kicked off the season in commanding fashion, earning himself a hat trick and a total of eight points on the day.
The Foresters wasted no time getting started, taking just eight minutes to net the first goal of the new year. Lake Forest's Gaston Aubert would strike off an assist from Geib and less than 10 minutes later, Geib would score a goal of his own to give the Foresters the 2-0 advantage. In the 35th minute of play, Geib scored again to give his team the 3-0 lead heading into the second half.Â
Geib continued to taunt the Cougar defense as he completed the hat trick at the 47:45 mark. To cap off the day, Erik Truitt netted the fifth and final goal of the day off another Geib assist to run away with the 5-0 shutout victory.
The Foresters out shot the Cougars 20-3, with CUC being unable to get a shot on goal during the match.Â
Concordia-Chicago will return to the pitch this Monday, Sept. 3 to take on the Carleton College Knights in River Forest. Game time is slated for a 1 p.m. start, with the Cougars celebrating their 2018 home opener.Â
