Men's Tennis Overcome by Raiders

April 14, 2018 - The Concordia-Chicago men's tennis team, like all of CUC's spring sports teams, continue to deal with the unusually wretched weather conditions thus far in April.  The Cougars were able to get just one of their two scheduled matches in today, going indoors to the Oak Park Tennis & Fitness Center, where they lost 9-0 to the MSOE Raiders in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play.

In doubles play, the Raiders swept the three matches, but CUC head coach Howard Carley could point to the progress of his first doubles team, despite a 3-8 loss to Ryan Runke and Brad Phoenix. "Orlando Hayes and Tyler Vincent probably played their best match yet. Their serving was improved, and they had a lot of competitive points today."

In singles play, Hayes and Runke squared off at number one, with the match going to MSOE's Runke by scores of 6-2, 6-2. Trey Dille and Kenneth Catron dropped their matches but were able to score some points; Dille fell at fourth to Phoenix 2-6, 0-6, and Catron lost 1-6, 0-6 to Ryan Roob.

The Cougars' afternoon match versus Wisconsin Lutheran College was postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date. The team is scheduled to play next Friday, April 20 at home against crosstown and conference rival Dominican University.
