Offense Falters In Loss To Alma

River Forest, Ill.- The Concordia Chicago women's lacrosse team was back in action this afternoon to close out the weekend against Alma College.  Unfortunately for the Cougars, Alma was able to limit the CUC offense to only two goals as the Scots walked out of River Forest with an 8-2 victory.

Margaret Doane and Sydney LaTurner led the Cougars with one goal each.  Anna Kellar contributed an assist, five groundballs, and two caused turnovers.  Hannah Johnson back in net for the second straight game made 10 saves for a .556 save percentage.

Three minutes into the game, the Scots scored two goals to take a quick 2-0 lead.  Minutes later, CUC's LaTurner cut the lead to one as she cut to the net in the middle of the field and Kellar found her with a beautiful pass from behind the net.  Alma's Olivia Benoit came right back winning the draw control, storming down the field and finding the back of the net ten seconds later to give the Scots a two goal lead again.  Late in the first half with Alma up three, Doane got around a couple defenders to net her first of the game and get the Cougars back within two as they went into halftime.

However, the second half was much like the second half in yesterday's game against Concordia Wisconsin.  The goalkeeper for Alma, Allie Ray, stopped a plethora of shots from CUC attackers and they were visibly frustrated.  The Scots defense shut the Cougars out the entire half and tacked on four more goals to go on to win by the final score of 8-2.

Concordia-Chicago (2-5, 1-3 MWLC) will be back in action next Thursday, March 29, when they travel to Notre Dame, Ind. to take on Saint Mary's College.  First draw is set for 6:00pm central time.
