Rams Comeback To Stun Cougars

River Forest, Ill.- The Concordia-Chicago women's lacrosse team looked to open up the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference with a win this afternoon over a tough Cornell team.  The previous two matches with the Rams, the Cougars lost by a total of three goals.  Unfortunately for the Cougars, CUC came up on the short end for the third time as the Rams scored the game winning goal with five minutes remaining to go on to win 8-7.

Sydney Fuller led the Cougars with 4 points in the game with one goal and three assists.  Margaret Doane followed that up with three points all goals

Cornell jumped early on the Cougars as they scored 49 seconds into the game to give them a 1-0 lead.  After that, CUC rattled off three straight goals to give them a 3-1 lead midway through the first half. Fuller danced around defenders for her first of the match. Doane was setup perfectly from Fuller to sneak one past the goalkeeper, and Sydney LaTurner was able to get by two defenders and bounce a goal to increase the CUC lead to two.  Cornell scored two of the next three goals to cut the lead to one as the Cougars took a 4-3 lead into halftime.

At the beginning of the second half, the rams knotted things up at 4.  Less than a minute later, Anna Kellar got Concordia-Chicago the lead right back as she netted her first of the match off a great pass from Laturner.  Midway through the half, Kellar added another, this time assisted by Elizabeth Cyrwus to give the Cougars a two goal lead again.  However, the Rams came storming back scoring four of the last five goals to again beat the Cougars late by the final score of 8-7.

Concordia-Chicago (1-2, 0-1 MWLC) will be back in action Tuesday when they take on Aurora University from Concordia Stadium.  Game time is set for 3:30pm.
