River Forest, Ill. – After two tough losses last week, the Concordia University Chicago Women's Basketball team hits to the road for the first time since November 20
th, following the three game home stand. CUC has just two games left prior to Christmas, with the first of those coming tomorrow night at defending NACC champion Wisconsin Lutheran College.
Series History: Wisconsin Lutheran holds a sizable advantage all-time against the Cougars. The two teams have faced off three times over the past two season, with the Warriors taking two of the last three. CUC did defeat WLC in River Forest back in February of 2017, 73-70.
About the Warriors: The defending NACC champions come into the contest with CUC a perfect 4-0 on the year, defeating all of their opponents by at least 13 points. Most recently WLC defeated Concordia Wisconsin 57-33 on Saturday afternoon. Wisconsin Lutheran does a great job of protecting the basketball, they rank sixth in the country with just 11.8 turnovers per game. Defending NACC player of the year Jen Dowden leads the WLC offense this season. She is averaging 19.8 points per game. Fellow senior Maddy Elrod has also been an impact player for the Warriors. She is second on the team in scoring at 13.8 points per game, and she also ranks fourth in the NACC with nine rebounds per game.
About the Cougars: The Concordia University Chicago Cougars come into the matchup with WLC looking for their second road win in the NACC this season. CUC won their only other conference road game 68-42 over Marian. Last time out CUC fell to Edgewood College 58-40 inside Geiseman Gymnasium. The Cougars have done a good job this season forcing turnovers. They average 10.7 steals per game which ranks third in the NACC.
Crystal Corr continues to bring down the rebounds for CUC. The 7.4 rebounds per game average for the junior ranks her sixth in the NACC.
Jada Dixon had her best game as a Cougar on Saturday afternoon. The freshman finished with 11 points on the day to go along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Up Next: The Cougars will play one more game before Christmas. They will head to Lisle, Illinois to take on Benedictine University on Saturday December 15. Opening tip is set for 2:00pm.
