Cougar Women Return Home To Host Marian Saturday

River Forest, Ill. -- After spending the first four games of the 2018-19 season on the road, the Concordia University Chicago Women's Basketball will finally make its home debut on Saturday afternoon against Marian. The Cougars look to rebound after three straight non-conference losses after opening the season with a win over these same Marian Sabres.

Setting the Scene:  Concordia-Chicago hosts Marian University tonight in its 2018-19 home opener Saturday afternoon, after dropping three in a row on the road. CUC owns an 15-8 record over the past two seasons inside Geiseman Gymnasium. The Cougars have won four straight home openers. 
 
Series Stackup: Since 2011 the Cougars and Sabres have faced off 14 times. CUC owns a 10-4 record over Marian during that span, and have won eight straight dating back to February 14, 2015. CUC already defeated Marian this season 68-42 in the season opener. 
 
Scouting the Sabres: The Marin University Sabres come into this afternoon's contest 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the NACC. After dropping the season opener to CUC, the Sabres went on the road to St.Norbert for two contests at the St.Norbert Tip-Off. They dropped the opening game to the hosts 88-26 before falling to Carthage 82-40. Paris Harris and Rachel Serchen lead the team offensively, averaging 7.7 points per game each. 
 
Newcomer Impact: Sam Bloom has led the team offensively through the first four games. The sophomore is averaging 14 points per game so far. Additionally, she leads the team with 12 assists on the season and is second on the team with nine steals.
 
The Strong Corr: Junior Crystal Corr continues to be a key contributor for the Cougars this season. She is averaging 7.3 points per game to go along with 8.5 rebounds per contest which ranks sixth in the NACC. She also ranks third in the NACC at 2.5 blocks per game this season.
