CHICAGO -- After a tight lipped first half, Illinois Tech went on to score two second half goals this evening, to eventually walk away with the 2-0 victory over Concordia-Chicago men's soccer.
CUC and the Scarlet Hawks fought tooth-and-nail throughout the first 45 minutes of play, but were left at a 0-0 stalemate heading into the halftime break. After the first half, IIT had out shot the Cougars just 5-3.
Illinois Tech turned up the heat for the final half of the night, taking six shots and eventually netting two goals. The Cougars struggled to create offense as they took just one shot throughout the latter part of the game.
In the 64th minute of play, Scarlet Hawk Conner Shaw scored the eventual game winner from just in front of the box. Later, with less than a minute and a half to go in the match, Illinois Tech's Santiago Bartolome scored again to solidify the NACCÂ victory.Â
The Cougars will have the remainder of the week to prepare for their next match up when they take on Edgewood College on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 12:30 p.m. Sunday's game will be the team's Senior Day.
