Spartans Surge to Veterans Cup Victory

RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Concordia University Chicago (3-11; 2-9 NACC) faced off against Aurora University (9-8-1; 8-2-1 NACC) in their final conference matchup of the season. In the first half, the Cougars would surrender a goal with 10 minutes left and head into the halftime break down 1-0. They would then give up six more in the second half and ultimately lose 7-0.

Aurora would open up scoring late in the first half, but other than one lone goal, neither team could find the back of the net. Collin Foreman scored on a putback for Aurora, off a long cross from teammate Edgar Soto. The Spartans had 12 first half shots and held CUC to none during the first 45 minutes of play.

Moving onto the second half, the Spartans would find its way a little earlier and extended the lead to 2-0 at the 50-minute mark. Aurora found its full stride and would score three more times in five minutes to make it 5-0. The Spartans would add two more goals, as the final would sit at 7-0.

Concordia-Chicago will be back in action on Friday, October 26th, at 7:00 p.m. at Northwestern University for their last match of the season.
