River Forest, Ill. – After picking up a key NACC win over MSOE on Friday night, the Concordia University Chicago Cougar Volleyball team heads to Lisle, Illinois to take on the Benedictine Eagles in another important conference contest tonight.
Recent History: The Cougars downed Benedictine by a score of 3-0 in River Forest last season. The Cougars took the match in three sets, coming out ready to go from the opening serve.
Shannon Stamp hit .250 on the night with seven kills and also chipped in three blocks. The CUC defense was key in the win, out digging Benedictine 50-37 on the night.
About the Cougars: CUC comes into tonight's matchup looking to win their second straight NACC contest. CUC most recently traveled to Milwaukee and took on MSOE. The Cougars jumped all over the Raiders from the opening serve, taking the match in straight sets. Stamp put together an impressive stat line for CUC, one that included a block and seven aces. As a team CUC finished with 18 aces on the night to MSOE's one. The Cougars rank first in the NACC in aces this season. Stamp's ability to block has helped CUC all season long. She currently ranks third in the conference and in the top 100 in the country in the category.
About the Eagles: The Benedictine Eagles come into tonight's matchup 9-7 overall and 1-2 in the NACC. Most recently, the Eagles dropped a three set match at home to Lakeland University on Saturday night. Senior libero Kristina Billie broke the Benedictine school record for digs last Wednesday and ranks first in digs in the NACC. Taylor Dunwell is also a player to watch, ranking first in the NACC in kills this season. She also is second on the team in digs with 160.
