MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- The Concordia-Chicago men's soccer team dropped to 2-6 in NACC play, after losing a one-goal game to Wisconsin Lutheran College, 2-1, this evening.
Despite being out shot 6-5 in the first half, the Cougars had control of the first 45 minutes of play. Just less than 30 minutes into the match,
Gerardo Medina earned a breakaway, beating several Warrior defenders and knocked the ball into the bottom right corner of the net from eight yards out. With the 1-0 lead, CUC managed to maintain its lead over WLC for another 47 minutes of play action.
Wisconsin Lutheran lit a spark for the second half, however, and in the 77th minute of play WLC's Juan Serna would net the equalizer. The game appeared to be heading into overtime, but with just four minutes left to go in regulation, a Warrior dribbled through several defenders and notched a left footed game-winning goal.
Ultimately, WLC would earn the 2-1 victory, having out shot the Cougars 11-4 in the second half.
CUC will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 3 p.m. when they take on Division Street Rival, Dominican University.Â
