RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Concordia-Chicago (4-10; 4-3 NACC) faced off against Milwaukee School of Engineering (8-7; 5-2 NACC) in the biggest stretch of the season.
CUC looked to build off of its two-game win streak and secure a spot in the postseason playoffs. After regulation, the score still stood at 0-0 so overtime was necessary. Overtime was a minute long and the Cougars found themselves at the wrong end of a 1-0 defeat.
Throughout the whole first half, the offenses had opportunities but were shut down. As the half progressed the rain kept coming down, which made it hard on both teams' movement around the field. This played a large part in the score sticking at 0-0 going into the halftime break.
In the second half, both teams showcased the same defensive effort. A couple of late Madline Kroll saves kept the game tied at 0-0 all the way to the buzzer. Ninety minutes would not be enough for either team to score so an overtime was to be played.
It would take MSOE only one minute to find the back of the net and break the hearts of Cougar fans. After a hard-fought match, CUC would lose by a final score of 1-0.
Concordia-Chicago will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 13, against Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee.
