Cougars Await Marian; Looking For Eighth Straight Win

The top of the NACC standings in women's basketball are getting interesting, and it figures to get even more so as long as CUC keeps winning. The Cougars (12-2, 8-2) have moved into a tie for third place with Concordia Wisconsin by virtue of seven consecutive wins, and number eight looms tonight as CUC welcomes Marian University to Geiseman Gym for a 7:00 tipoff.

The Cougars easily defeated Marian, 78-44 on Dec. 30 in Fond du Lac. That game was the second in the current winning streak and marked Corr's season best. Corr has posted five double-doubles since the Dec. 20 win over LaVerne, and she will likely provide a difficult matchup for Marian's defense once again this evening.

The Sabres (2-13, 0-10) are a young team who have had difficulty shooting the ball this season. They are just 31 percent overall, 18 percent from three-point range, and are averaging just under 45 points per game. They are led in scoring by senior Brandi Bender at 13.3 per game.

Tonight's game continues a busy week of hoops at Geiseman. Tomorrow, the men will take on Marian, while Saturday will feature a doubleheader with Dominican as part of the River Forest Rivalry Cup series, sponsored by Northwestern Mutual.
